XC Landing Zones

Detailed information for licensed paragliding pilots.

Landing Out on XC: The Local Picture

Every XC flight is a chain of landing options — and around Babadağ the chain is generous. From the beach at Ölüdeniz to the agricultural plains inland, the classic routes were shaped partly by where you can always put a glider down safely.

The golden rule stays the same everywhere: pick your field early, commit high, and fly a proper pattern into it.

The Reliable Options Along the Classic Lines

What pilots plan around:

  • Ölüdeniz beach — the home landing, always the finish line of an out-and-return
  • The Ölüdeniz–Ovacık plain — wide open fields under the first ridge section
  • Valley floors along the inland line — cultivated flats; pick stubble over crops, mind the power lines
  • Coastal strips east of the bay — usable pockets known from local briefings

Landing-Out Etiquette and Retrieval

Land in a farmer's field? Pack quickly, leave gates as found, be friendly — decades of good relations keep these fields open to pilots.

Send your position, and our retrieval service picks you up along all the standard lines. A short wait with a view, then back for the evening glass-off.

FAQ – XC Landing Zones

What if I can't make it back to Ölüdeniz beach?

That is normal XC — the plains and valley floors along the routes offer ample field options. Choose early, land into wind, send your pin and retrieval collects you.

Are there hazards to know about when landing out?

The usual rural ones: power lines near villages, crops in early summer, afternoon valley breeze switching field orientation. All covered in the local route briefing.

Is landing on Ölüdeniz beach allowed for solo pilots?

Yes — solo pilots use the same beach landing zone, following the marked pattern and giving way sensibly within the tandem flow. It is the sweetest XC finish in the sport.
