1200m Launch Point

The 1200m launch is the most popular and accessible takeoff point on Babadağ, used for standard tandem flights.

Why the 1200m Launch Is Babadağ's Most Popular Takeoff

Sitting at 1,200 metres above sea level, this launch is the workhorse of Babadağ Mountain. The majority of standard tandem paragliding flights in Ölüdeniz begin here, because the takeoff area is wide, well maintained and usable in a broad range of wind conditions.

For first-time flyers it is the ideal introduction: the run-off is gentle, conditions are typically smoother than at the higher launches, and the flight still delivers the full postcard view of the Blue Lagoon and Belcekız Beach.

What Your Flight From 1200m Looks Like

After a short safety briefing, you and your pilot lift off within a few steps and the coastline opens up beneath you. A typical tandem flight from 1200m lasts about 15–25 minutes depending on wind and thermal activity.

You glide over pine-covered ridges, watch the lagoon shift through every shade of turquoise, and land softly on the beach promenade in Ölüdeniz — right where friends and family can watch.

How Do You Get to the 1200m Takeoff?

Access is by the Babadağ mountain road or the cable car from the base station near Ölüdeniz. With Atmos Paragliding, transport is part of the package: we pick you up, handle the mountain transfer and all equipment, and you simply enjoy the ride up.

The journey from Ölüdeniz to the launch takes roughly 25–30 minutes, and pilots use the time for the briefing so you are ready to fly on arrival.

1200m vs the Higher Launches

Choosing a launch height is mostly about flight time and the conditions on the day. Here is how 1200m compares:

  • 1200m — standard tandem flights, smoothest conditions, ideal for first-timers
  • 1700m — longer flights with stronger thermals and wider views
  • 1800m — high-altitude flights on good thermal days
  • 1900m — just below the 1,960m summit; the longest, most panoramic flights

How long does a tandem flight from 1200m last?

Yes — it is the launch we recommend for most first tandem flights. The takeoff area is wide and forgiving, the air is generally smoother than higher up, and you still land on the famous Ölüdeniz beach.

How much does a tandem flight from 1200m cost?

A standard tandem flight with Atmos Paragliding costs $160 including hotel pickup, mountain transfer, all equipment and a licensed SHGM-certified pilot. Photo and video packages are optional extras.
