May-June and September-October are perfect. July-August are busy but still excellent.
The short answer: May–June and September–October offer the best overall balance — warm weather, reliable thermals, softer light and fewer crowds. July and August deliver the strongest thermals and longest flights, but they are also the hottest, busiest months.
The full season runs from late April into early November, and every month inside it is genuinely flyable — the differences are about comfort, crowds and flight character, not about whether you can fly.
Here is how the season unfolds:
In July and August, book several days ahead and prefer morning or sunset slots to avoid the midday heat. In shoulder months, availability is easier — but the best sunset slots still fill first.
Travelling outside the season? Contact us anyway: on suitable winter days limited flights do operate.
It is hot on the ground, but temperatures drop noticeably with altitude and the flight itself is comfortable. Choose a morning or sunset slot to skip the midday heat.
Occasionally, yes — on calm, dry winter days limited flights operate. Winter flying is entirely weather-dependent, so flexibility matters more than dates.
September and October combine fading crowds with spectacular golden-hour light. June also offers beautiful, very late sunsets.
