A thermal map is the mental (or GPS-overlaid) picture of where lift reliably lives. Around Babadağ that picture is unusually well-defined, because the same sun-terrain-sea geometry rebuilds the same thermal sources day after day.
Learn the map once and the mountain becomes readable: you stop searching for lift and start flying from source to source.
The core entries on every local pilot's map:
Fly with locals, log your climbs, and review the GPS traces afterwards — three or four flights of deliberate attention teach what months of solo exploration would. Our guided XC days are built exactly around transferring this map.
Public XC tracklogs (e.g. from online contest servers) form a de facto thermal map — climb clusters mark the sources. Combine them with a local briefing for the current season's behaviour.
The sources stay put; their timing shifts. Spring favours the lower, greener triggers; high summer fires everything with the strongest midday cores; autumn softens and delays the cycle.
A guided flying day with a local pilot. What takes seasons to self-discover transfers in a weekend of flying the sources together.
