Cloudbase is the altitude where rising air cools enough for its moisture to condense — the flat bottom of the puffy cumulus clouds you see on good flying days. For pilots it marks the practical ceiling of the day's thermal lift.
A high cloudbase means thermals keep working far above the launch; a low one caps the day's climbing. In Ölüdeniz's dry Mediterranean summers, cloudbase is often comfortably above Babadağ's 1,960m summit — and on many days there are no clouds at all.
