The 1800m launch is used by advanced pilots and selected high-altitude tandem flights on good thermal days.
At 1,800 metres, this launch sits just below Babadağ's summit plateau. It is used for high-altitude tandem flights on good thermal days and by experienced solo pilots. Conditions here are stronger and more dynamic than at the lower takeoffs.
When the day's wind direction and thermal cycle favour this side of the mountain, 1800m rewards you with some of the longest and most scenic flights Ölüdeniz has to offer.
Tandem flights from this height typically last 30–40 minutes. You launch almost two kilometres above the sea, with the whole Turquoise Coast unfolding below — the Blue Lagoon, the cliffs of Butterfly Valley and, on clear days, islands on the horizon.
For solo pilots, 1800m is a favourite cross-country starting point: strong, reliable thermals make it possible to climb above the summit and set off along the ridgeline.
The launch is reached via the cable car and the mountain road network. Because conditions at 1800m are more demanding, our pilots assess wind speed and direction on the day and choose this launch only when it is the right call — safety always decides.
A quick self-check:
Yes, when conditions allow — but we usually recommend 1200m or 1700m for first flights. Your pilot will advise the best launch for the day; the beach landing in Ölüdeniz is the same wherever you start.
Typically 30–40 minutes. The extra altitude and stronger thermals give pilots plenty of room to extend the flight.
Each Babadağ launch faces a different direction. Pilots select the takeoff that matches the day's wind and thermal cycle, so 1800m is used when conditions specifically favour it.
Tandem flights available daily April – October. Book online or contact us directly.
